The name Microraptor is derived from Greek, where "micro" means "small," and "raptor" refers to raptor dinosaurs or those with birdlike characteristics.
This remarkable dinosaur possessed flight feathers on both its front and rear limbs, and its upper arm bones resembled those found in modern birds today. Additionally, it sported a tail adorned with a fan of feathers, which it possibly used for steering during its gliding descents. What's truly fascinating is that scientists have determined that its feathers displayed iridescence, giving them a metallic sheen akin to the feathers seen in present-day peacocks and hummingbirds.
